Testing & Inspection
Here at Omega Electrical we undertake countless electrical condition reports on a regular basis to support our clients needs in confirming whether an electrical installation is in a satisfactory state for electrical safety purposes and fit for purpose and continued use.
An electrical installation condition report (EICR) is a report that is carried out to assess the safety of an existing electrical installation within a property and is used to describe its condition and any deviations to the current wiring regulations if present. Parts of the installation that are reported on include consumer units, protective earthing, lighting, power points and fixed equipment. A detailed list of remedial works will be included if necessary, it’s purpose is to confirm as far as reasonably practical whether or not the electrical installation is in a safe condition for continued service.
The EICR will show whether the electrical installation is in a ‘satisfactory’ or ‘unsatisfactory’ condition and will provide a detailed list of observations affecting the safety and whether or not the installation requires remedial works in order for a successful certificate to be achieved.
Benefits of a EICR report:
Customer’s peace of mind
Prevention of further costs due to damage of unsafe wiring
Fire prevention
Insurance and legal liability reasons
Electrical condition reports are a necessity for any landlord wishing to rent property.
It is a legal requirement to have a valid landlord electricity safety certificate in place for each rental property you own. An electrical safety certificate must be renewed every five years or every change of occupancy. It is a landlords responsibility to organise this and ensure any works are carried out safely. If a satisfactory certificate is not in place a landlord can now be fined up to £30,000.
