Solar PV

At Omega Electrical we are committed to providing the most energy efficient products the industry can offer in order to make your home or business as green as possible.

Solar electricity panels, also known as photovoltaics (PV), capture the sun’s energy and convert it into electricity which is a completely free resource we should all be benefitting from and using in this modern age. This will enable us to reduce our carbon footprint and help make the world a greener place.

How do solar panels work?

A solar PV panel consists of many cells made from layers of semi- conducting material, most commonly silicon. When light shines on this material a flow of electricity is created.

Electricity is fed from the solar panels connected to your system into your very own electricity meter which will record how much energy you create and use.

The cells do not need direct sunlight to work and will also generate electricity on cloudy days. However, the stronger the sunshine, the more electricity is generated.

Solar PV systems create direct current, this is why an AC inverter is installed amongst your solar setup to convert direct current into alternating current. This can then be used to supply your appliances and lighting and power around your home or business.

The more solar panels you have, the more free electricity you can generate and benefit from and use around your home or business. For any residual electricity you do not use during the day the free electricity can either be stored within battery storage and used on other days when you need it most or exported back to the grid (electricity supply company) for cash rewards.
